Chemical Properties of Aluminum Sulfate

Iron-free aluminum sulfate is relatively stable under normal temperature and dry storage conditions. It does not easily lose crystal water in a dry environment. When heated, the product gradually dehydrates and may further decompose at high temperature. Aluminum sulfate is readily soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is acidic. During hydrolysis it can form gelatinous aluminum hydroxide precipitate and basic salts. In production, storage and use, operators should avoid large dust dispersion because product dust may irritate eyes and respiratory passages. Good ventilation and suitable personal protective equipment are recommended for safer handling.
